Caravan insurance news: Holidaymakers advised to buy currency before travelling

21 July 2010
Caravan insurance customers heading abroad this year have been advised to do their homework and shop around for the best currency deals.

A recent survey carried out by M&S revealed that 69 per cent of Britons exchange money before travelling, rather than relying on debit and credit cards once they arrive at their destination.

Of those polled, 89 per cent said it is important to them that they secure the best rate of exchange possible.

"It's always a good idea to buy travel money before you travel and make the best of competitive exchange rates on the high street. Families heading abroad this weekend still have time to get their currency before the big getaway," said James Yerkess, head of travel money at M&S.

Research published earlier this month by the Post Office revealed that British holidaymakers collectively waste around £28 million every year by purchasing their currency at the last minute, rather than shopping around and comparing deals between providers.
