  • Definitions of levels or 'basis' of cover

At Club Care we offer three types of cover when insuring your caravan. These types of cover are referred to as the ‘basis of cover’ and the choices are: New for Old, Guaranteed Value or Market Value cover. The following is an explanation for each basis of cover:-

    New for Old cover:

Club Care now offers this cover on all caravans up to 15 years old.

In the event of a total loss and so long as your Sums Insured are sufficient, Club Care will arrange for your caravan and equipment to be replaced with models that match the make and specification of your existing as closely as possible. The replacement of your caravan and equipment on a New for Old basis will operate in the event your caravan is stolen and not recovered or if it is considered a total loss due to damage caused. Repair work is provided on the basis of the cost of the repair.

To be eligible for New for Old cover your caravan must be less than 15 years old at the time the insurance cover is purchased.

    Guaranteed value cover:

Available for all types of caravan regardless of age, origin or value.

If you opt for Guaranteed Value, Club Care will base your caravan’s Sum Insured on the amount you paid for it. Should your caravan be stolen or become a write off following an insured incident Insurers will pay the equivalent of the Sum Insured provided you can produce a receipt or proof of purchase confirming the value at the time it was bought. If you are unable to produce this evidence then the basis of cover will revert to Market Value.

All claims for contents and equipment are assessed on a Market Value basis.

To be eligible for Guaranteed Value cover you must be in possession of a receipt or proof of purchase confirming the amount paid for the caravan. The proof of purchase must have been provided by a recognised UK dealer within 7 years from the date the insurance commences.

    Market Value

Available for all types of caravan regardless of age, origin or value.

If you select Market Value, you need to determine the cost of replacing your caravan and its belongings with a model of the same or similar specification, condition and age. To ensure you have bought enough insurance you should make sure the Sums Insured are at least as high as the replacement costs.

In the event of a total loss insurers will pay the replacement costs and we calculate these by reference to information supplied by Glass’s Guide or any other recognised sources of information. If you need assistance help is always at hand – simply call one of our friendly and knowledgeable advisers on 01277 243 060 and they will be happy to assist.

There is no criteria to be eligible for Market Value cover, all you have to do is contact us on 01277 243 060 or obtain an online quote.

    Sums Insured

The Sums Insured identify the maximum amount insurers will pay following a loss, irrespective of the basis of cover you have chosen. If the Sums Insured are less than the amount needed to settle your claim on the basis of cover you chose, the settlement offered to you will not cover all the costs. It is very important to ensure you have bought enough insurance and if you are in any doubt about how to go about setting the Sums Insured, simply call one of our friendly and knowledgeable advisers on 01277 243 000. Club Care advisors will provide guidance on how to go about buying enough insurance but the final decision on this remains with you.

Insurers will pay for the costs of repairing or replacing your caravan, equipment, awnings, contents and personal belongings, if they are damaged by storm, flood, fire, theft, accidents on the road, impact from falling objects and many other events.

    Awning cover

Club Care will insure your awning up to the total sum insured you have chosen. However you should not leave your awning erected for more than 4 days in succession unless someone is there to take action should a strong wind be forecast. If you do we will not be able to cover the loss.

Theft from your awning is limited to £100 per item up to a maximum total of £300 for all items on any one occasion.

This is a useful additional cover found in the better insurances such as Club Care's touring caravan policy. It offers you and your family a benefit should you be injured or killed when on holiday with your unit.

    Alternative accommodation

Under Club Care, Insurers pay up to £3,500 towards alternative accommodation or the hire of a similar unit to allow you to continue your holiday if your caravan suffers loss or damage while in use and you can no longer stay in it.

  • Loss and damage caused by you to third parties

Public Liability (Damage you cause to others)

At Club Care we recognise that there are many situations where you could cause loss, damage or injury to others when using your caravan.

When you arrive at a caravan or camp site one of the first things you do is detach your caravan from your car and manoeuvre it onto your allotted pitch. No matter how careful you are there is always a danger of hitting another person’s property such as their caravan, car, awnings or equipment. Worse still, you could injure an innocent bystander and at Club Care we arrange to cover your legal liability under such eventualities up to a limit of £5,000,000.
