The number of
caravan insurance customers and other holidaymakers visiting Yorkshire has increased significantly over the last year, it has been revealed.
Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said that some of the county's most popular visitors attractions have seen a dramatic increase in ticket sales.
"The latest stats from Visit England for last summer's visitors show that trips to Yorkshire grew by 35 per cent, the fastest growing region in the UK, ahead of the English average of 15 per cent, so we are very proud of that," he commented.
Mr Verity noted that occupancy rates have also increased at hotels and caravan sites across the region.
Research published recently by Travelsupermarket.com revealed that a third of Brits are likely to take at least one holiday in 2010, while 21 per cent expect to take three or more.
Of those polled, 16 per cent said their main holiday will be taken in the UK.
